At Shirts House, we love to celebrate great women, women who dedicate their lives to service others, to take care of their kids, women who fight to change the world, to give other women their rightful place in the world. We have created some great shirts to celebrate by your side this International Women's Day.
Since 1977, the ONU proclaimed the "International Women's Day", every 8th of March, the date on which the struggle of working women is commemorated, those that day after day work for equality with men, both in the society as in personal development.
On March 8, 1908, a transcendental event marked the history of labor and the union struggle not only in the United States, but throughout the world. A fire at the Cotton factory in New York, gave rise to the tribute. Approximately 130 women died in the building during a fire and after they went on strike with permanence in the workplace. The reason for their claim was due to the search for a reduction in working hours to 10 hours, a salary equal to that of men because they exercised the same activities, and poor working conditions suffered.
A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.
- Eleanor Roosevelt
The owner of the factory ordered to close the doors of the building so that the women desisted of their idea, and left the place. But his intention was beyond; He did not achieve what he wanted and caused the death of the workers who were inside the factory.
Currently, it is seen as a result of this and other events in the world that leads to the role of women in society, this day is commemorated as the struggle of those women who through history come together and are part of groups that they work for equality, and labor, professional, personal and academic rights.
