Radio day

Today we want to celebrate with all the radio lovers out there and to all the people that work at radio stations day by day, to bring the best music and news to us listeners. Today for the International Radio day, we have created our selection of shirts, designed by us at Shirts House, to celebrate this magnificent event.

The radio has been, without a doubt, one of the most important inventions of the human being. For the first time in history, a large part of the population could be informed in real time. Currently, a radio device almost does not take up space thanks to electronic advances, but it has not always been that way. For example, the first portable radio weighed 10 kilograms.

Heinrich R. Hertz carried out the first radio transmissions in 1886. At first, very little: send a few energy transfer in the form of a spark, that was the first message. There was nothing to think about the transcendence of what had just happened, so the transmitter was cornered in a German university laboratory. In 1894 a series of investigators was interested in the experiments of the hertzian waves: the English Oliver Lodge and the Russian Alexander S. Popov, that the 24 of March of 1896 had transmitted by radio in Morse the first words.

Finally, the electrical engineer Guglielmo Marconi, born in Italy, would be the first to find Hertz's theories a practical application: radio. For this reason, Marconi is considered the inventor of the radio. Although it is a fact that creates great controversy. The first thing he thought and did was to apply the radio to the maritime transmissions, and in 1897 he sent thirty kilometers away a signal that was received by a tugboat. A few years later many ships sailed equipped with the Marconi wireless transmitter, which was in fact a radio, although the message was encoded in Morse.

Until 1921 the first radio stations did not appear. In that decade owning a receiver was a feat: the reception was poor and weak, and had so little sensitivity that it was necessary to install in the garden an antenna ten meters above the ground, which looked like a wire to hang the laundry.

In fact the antenna had already been invented in 1895 by the Russian Alexander Stepánovich Popov, whom his compatriots consider the inventor of the radio, although the low power only allowed listening through headphones.

Nowadays we are able to hear almost anything throughout radios, music, news, people talking about almost every subject in the planet and some radios even work for people to communicate between each other, just as if they were a phone. Keep on celebrating this awesome day with us and our shirts by heading over to our page and creating your own shirts to celebrate.
